Who elects U.S. senators?

Citizens from their state elect U.S. senators. Since the 17th Amendment in 1913, the people vote directly for their senators. Any citizen 18 or older who lives in the state can vote for both of that state's senators. U.S. senators are elected by the citizens of their state.
